SWIFT Messaging Services

Firms have built extensive processing systems using legacy SWIFT MT messages as critical messaging services in the processing chain for payments, securities and many other critical transactions. New business requirements are putting pressure on IT to modernize and extend these systems with support for newer SWIFT MX messages. Some of these projects include DTCC Corporate Actions reengineering, regulatory updates to the Derivatives CUG/SWIFTNet Derivatives service, support for legal entity identifiers (LEI), and the Global FX Trade Repository. 

FUNDS Messaging

The 2015 mandated deadline for funds SWIFT messaging traffic to be completely MX-based is fast approaching. Meanwhile, SWIFT has increased the costs for using older FIN Fund Templates, while providing discounts to those firms using their ISO 20022 counterparts. Full automation requires integration of internal systems and data models with external SWIFT standards. Compliance with multiple and frequently changing technology standards is a challenge for any financial services organization and can very quickly drain the resources of in-house development teams.

OTC Derivatives STP

As money managers and broker-dealers increase the volume and complexity of traded derivatives, project delays and costs for post-trade manual processing have skyrocketed. The current paper-intensive environment is fraught with excessive operational risk for market participants. Each of the systems in the OTC derivatives post-trade process, such as Order Management, Matching, Valuation, and Settlement were developed or bought as a standalone system each with their own data definitions. For regulatory initiatives and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives process automation, C24 provides financial messaging data interoperability tools with pre-built FpML and variant messaging libraries enabling firms to significantly reduce derivatives operational risks and costs.

Derivatives Regulatory Reporting

The OTC derivatives market is undergoing significant changes – nearly every derivatives operation and swaps lifecycle process is impacted by regulatory reform. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has mandated several reporting regulations resulting from the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, specifically that swap market participants report swap positions. Additional regulations from Dodd-Frank and the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) are being created requiring greater transparency and timely reporting of derivatives transactions worldwide with the end goals of reducing systemic risk and market abuse in the derivatives markets.

Payments Modernisation for SEPA

Modernising payments systems is a top priority for many financial services firms to reduce costs, increase customer responsiveness and facilitate compliance with new regulations. The Single European Payments Area (SEPA) and the European Payments Services Directive (PSD) are mandating the use of new standards for payments which puts increased pressure on existing bespoke systems that typically use legacy ACH and SWIFT MT data formats. C24 Technologies’ Payments Modernisation for SEPA solution enables financial institutions to quickly comply with PSD and SEPA initiatives.
